This was our favorite Japanese restaurant when in lived in NYC. Everything is prepared so yummy, especially the desserts. The desserts are epic. They serve really DELICIOUS UNIQUE DESSERTS that cannot be found elsewhere. Their avocado, radish, burdock root salad and codfish are so flavorful and fresh. Everytime we come back to NY, this is our first stop!

Fav. dinner spot, always tasty, great service, and cool ambiance. The agedashi tofu is sublime.

This is a quiet little Japanese restaurant tucked away like the little hidden gem it is! We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday and this meal ticked all the boxes! We ate family style and had the tuna tartare, sashimi platters, the cod fish -which truly melted in your mouth it was so delicious and the steak that was perfectly seasoned and tender. You can tell the sushi was fresh as well! Server was attentive but not standing over us and when we had the ice cream for dessert, they brought it over with a candle on it! I would absolutely recommend for a small group of a lovely intimate dinner date.

For 40 years this has been my favorite Japanese restaurant. It's doesn't serve sushi nor does it have the precious atmosphere of all the big city Japanese places that come and go. It's honest warm friendly and authentic. Its price has always been in line with its value. I'm sure some will find it "expensive" but it's in no way overpriced.

An absolute Soho classic. I love this place. You'll need a reservation and it's pricey but it's worth it. The vibe inside is amazing, and low key cool. The food is delicious and clean and you always feel great after eating there. It's one of the few throwback places that remain, and still maintain what it is that's so special about them.

Thoroughly enjoyed sharing Shabu Shabu for dinner last night with a friend. The kitchen was a little backed up, but the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

Came here on a Friday night at 9:30 pm. It was half empty, likely due to being 30 min before closing. We were seated promptly. There was an It Girl dining in the back, so that was exciting. We ordered the avocado salad and I got the vegan cold udon. My date got the hot regular udon. As Japanese food goes, my udon was a bit light on the flavor. The broth was barely there in terms of taste and the vegetables were also bland. The noodles were perfectly cooked though; they had good chew: al dente. This, however, might be my taste preference (I love Thai and Chinese and Vietnamese noodles--all on the other side of the spectrum in terms of having strong flavor profiles). The salad was amazing. I might try something else next time I go. Ambience is very date-night-y and the staff and decor feel very traditional Japanese. I also saw an artist of note having dinner. This feels like a very understated scene, because they were hiding out at a nondescript restaurant... so maybe it's not actually a scene, but an anti-scene.

Have you ever had food cravings? This is what led us to Omen. My friend and I were dining at another Japanese restaurant in the area and my friend kept saying that she always has cravings for the uni shooters at Omen. Her description of the uni, quail egg and Shiso leaf on top of a lemon sounded so delicious so we went Japanese restaurant hopping. I l love uni. Love! My friend said the way to eat the shooters is to take take the wooden stick and swirl the Uni and egg yolk together while you squeeze the lemon. The shooter was so refreshing and so good. We also had the peach imperial cocktail. Very nicely made. If I wasn't so full I would try other items. Definitely on my list for a revisit. FYI they only accept Amex or cash.

It was not planed to go in for dinner. The restaurant was not easy to spot on the outside, but the vibe of the restaurant was very authentic and inviting. My friends and I decided on the tasting menu since brighter of us has been there before. The waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the courses of our meal. He made sure our cups are always filled with hot tea or cold water. Because we ordered the tasting menu, he explained each dishes to us and made sure all of us finished before he comes and ask if he can remove the plates. We are not able to shared which dish was our favorite because they were all wonderful!
